Bats' Masquerade

Masquerade mask,

buoyed atop the river

it called out a loud shrill

before being found

lying pithy against

a group of mossy rocks.

It lied there for an entire

spring, before being picked

up by the sharp feet of

a hastily bat late to a party

But the bat came upon

an even more beautiful

mask along the way,

and threw this one

into the nearest tower.

But the bat had terrible aim,

which was made even worse

by his haste, so the tower was

replaced by a young boy.

The boy put the mask on

and began to swim home in the sun

as it was a long way home

from here

The mask told told the boy:

“I must celebrate my jubilee.”
