frequent red room

this room
seems white

I get in
my car

find
someone
who

fits
my
description

ask
if they
want a ride

"get in
my car

it's okay
don't worry"

Take the
person to
my house

tell the person
to go
to the room

to the right
of the front door

and say
they can stay

bringing them
water

they fall
asleep

I
get my
bat

Twister at the end, I wasn't expecting it.
Very, very true and an excellent poem.

Hey man. Thanks a lot for that comment, it actually helped lift my mood a lot, what you said was really nice. Stuff's still kinda rough, my mother is still in hospital and I'm still trying to hold my brother and dad together, which is proving to be some kind of war of attrition or something. But I'm just keeping positive and all of that stuff, so fingers crossed we'll get some light at the end of the tunnel soon.

Oh yeah I don't know if you want to email me next time, but if you do, my address is god_or_nothing(at)hotmail.com
Give me a message there if you want.

OK, so book recommendations: it's funny that you mentioned Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, because I was actually going to ask if you'd read Tao Lin's novel Eeeee Eee Eeee. Do you have that? If not, I can imagine you really enjoying it. It's a great book. Maybe consider Scott Heim's latest novel We Disappear. Also, maybe you might enjoy The Human War by Noah Cicero? That's a cool book. At the moment I'm reading this book by Felix Feneon called Novels in Three Lines, which I am very much enjoying. There are about 8 or 9 stories on every page, and every story is no longer than a paragraph - they're just lots of tiny little scenes, like one story is just a description of a guy who was found hung. Originally they all appeared annonymously in a French newspaper at 1903. Anyway, so that's a great book so far, it triggers lots of ideas. You might like Elephant by Raymond Carver as well, it's a great collection of short stories that came out a while ago, very strange, poignant scenes that stay with you a while after reading them. Yeah, I dunno if any of those sound good to you, but just some ideas, give me a shout if you want some different ideas. Oh, and I guess my favourite novel of all time is probably The Story of Eye by Georges Bataille. Also, just out of interest, how many of DC's books have you read?

And yeah, I read the through the stuff on Lullingly and I have to say that I really like it, man. I really like Frequent Red Room for a couple of reasons, I mean, there's this perfect enonomy of words, everything is in the right place and nothing is overstated or made too blatant, which really adds to this sense of disorientation and malevolence that seems to fill the poem. I love it. I liked Nonchalantly Obsolete as well, I love how the last line kinda deviates from the longer verses, just cuts things short, dead in their tracks. So in short, I like your poems man, I'd very much be interested in reading more.

Oh and one last thing, a few gifts to perk up your back to school blues: (for some reason Blogger won't allow hyperlinks today, so it's cut and paste, I'm afraid)
